FAQs

Who do you host?

We love to welcome people to our home, but we host only a handful of events each year. With this in mind, we love hosting people (particularly dogs lovers) who want to get stuck into making their event personal, who enjoy a quirkier style and appreciate the historic buildings and countryside location. We generally do medium sized weddings, with around 80 people for the day-time reception and around 110 for an evening party.

How many people will be able to attend our event?

Dunwood Hall Estate is licensed for a maximum of 80 people for a ceremony and for a sit-down wedding breakfast during the day and 110 during the evening.

Is accommodation available?

We are able to provide accommodation upon request and we are working with local businesses to help your guests find a place to stay in the area. There are plenty of options and we’ll be happy to give you some recommendations.

Is there parking available on-site?

Yes, unlike many historical wedding venues, we have ample parking available for 45 cars. This is accessed via the main drive.

Can we get married legally at Dunwood Hall Estate?

Yes, we hold a licence to conduct civil wedding ceremonies onsite. We can accommodate up to 80 guests during the ceremony, which can take place in our Music Room or 50 in the beautiful Orangery, depending on your preference. Alternatively, if you prefer to be married in a church, there is a small parish church nearby.

Are you able to cater for all dietary requirements?

Yes. Our on-site caterers offer a full range of delicious menu options. We’ll be happy to work with you to create the perfect full weekend menu, including something for younger guests to enjoy, and perhaps even a full English to help quell the after-effects on Sunday morning.  even for younger guests.

We offer a full, well-stocked, on-site bar, offering a range of champagnes, wines, beers and branded spirits from which you will be able to choose. Unfortunately, we are unable to allow you to supply your own caterers, as the kitchen facilities used are our own family space, and as such we can’t run the risk of anything going awry.

You can rest assured we use only trusted caterers who offer the highest quality food. And you will be able to meet with them and discuss all your requirements before the big day.

Are children welcome? And what about dogs?

Yes, and yes. We know that for your special day to be truly special you want everyone that is important to you to be able to be there. Children and dogs (providing they are well behaved and house trained) will be welcomed with open arms and encouraged to explore the grounds and enjoy everything Dunwood Hall has to offer.

We have a little one ourselves, who you’ll probably see running around, as well as two friendly Border Collies. No doubt you’ll meet them at some point too!

Have you won any awards?

Yes, Dunwood Hall Estate has won multiple awards including Best Local Venue. We regularly receive wonderful feedback from the brides and grooms who choose to spend their special day with us, with

Is there anything we won’t be allowed to do as part of our wedding or event?

We genuinely love couples who come to us with imaginative themes and interesting ideas we’ve never seen before - the quirkier the better in our minds. So we don’t have a long list of dos and don’ts.

We only ask that you discuss your ideas with us beforehand and respect the fact that we’re sharing our own historic country home with you and we need to make sure it remains loved and looked after.
